Excavation and description of pits

If there is a need to determine what kind of soil lies under the foundation of a building, and what the construction of the foundation and its technical condition are, you will need our excavation service, otherwise known as surfing. Shallow shafts, also called excavations, allow us to determine the construction and materials of the foundations, if the latter are made of stone, the condition of the stone, as well as shafts provide an opportunity to assess waterproofing, measure the depth, shape and type of foundations, as well as take soil samples for top-class laboratory testing or on-site soil testing.

More pits can be excavated where roads are being reconstructed in order to more accurately identify and see the layers of the road surface structure and the properties of the soils that compose them.

WHAT IS THE PIT EXCAVATION METHOD AND WHAT ARE ITS ADVANTAGES?

  • in most cases, the trenches are dug to a depth of at least 2 meters in order to identify the geological features of the topsoil;
  • excavation of pits allows a simple assessment of the water level and its changes;
  • excavations provide an opportunity to determine the soil and bulk soil layers;
  • it is a proven method of reconstructing roads.

WHEN DO YOU NEED A PIT EXCAVATION SERVICE?

The need for this service arises when geological surveys need to be carried out near an existing building or in its foundations. For example, if you are planning a reconstruction, assessing the ground under the building, as well as the existing foundations is necessary. Soil subsidence and foundation structure can cause deformations of the building and additional costs in the future. Excavation will also be necessary when you are planning to build a new one next to the existing one - it is important to assess the dredging of the old one, the condition of the foundations, how the existing construction will affect the existing one and what will affect the new one.

  • Our clients include state and municipal institutions, design and architecture offices, agricultural companies, construction and transport infrastructure companies, various development companies, private individuals, and others.

OTHER SERVICES PROVIDED BY GEO ENGINEERING:

  • Soil drilling. The best choice if it’s necessary to determine the foundation of the structure, to study its soil structure and composition, to study the mechanical and physical properties of the soil, to determine its origin, layer boundaries, to take samples for laboratory tests, etc.
  • Static probing. The most popular and economical method of  geological research, during which soil properties, type, strength, layer boundaries are evaluated.
  • Dynamic probing. A rapid soil survey is carried out, the results of which are useful in the design and installation of roads, railways and other infrastructure, when it is necessary to study the soil and its strength in the relevant areas.
  • Soil compaction control. A study that will help to identify the exact degree and quality of soil compaction.
  • Soil laboratory tests. An excellent choice for studying the physical and mechanical properties of the soil, its composition, strength, when it is necessary to predict how the soil will react to construction, how it will "behave" after its completion, the study is valuable in minimizing structural deformations, sedimentation, etc.
  • Static and dynamic plate tests. Tests with a static plate will allow us to predict possible deformations of the ground under a certain load, and tests with a dynamic plate are designed to quickly assess the soil bedrock and the compaction of the road base.
